How to: Designate the Cluster Manager

The Cluster Manager serves as the main management console for the cluster. It serves as the Load Balancer (unless external load balancing is enabled), shared storage server, siteWorx account manager, and cluster IP Manager.

The server that will be used as the Cluster Manager must have two IP addresses, and a storage device large enough for all account information. Also, it is highly recommended that the Cluster Manager and all be on the same network segment, and in the same physical location.

Note

It is only possible for there to be one Cluster Manager, per cluster. As Interworx Clustering is not a High Availability solution, the Cluster Manager is the single point of potential failure.

To Designate an InterWorx Server as the Cluster Manger

  1. Log into NodeWorx from the browser on the server that will act as the Cluster Manager (https://ip.ad.dr.ess:2443/nodeworx)

  2. In NodeWorx, navigate to Clustering > Setup

    cluster setup page
  3. Under InterWorx Cluster Manager, click Setup. This opens the Clustering Setup page

    cluster quarum IP
  4. From the Quorum IP Address dropdown, select the IP to use as the quorum IP. The quorum IP is the IP address that will be used by all nodes in the cluster to communicate with the manager (and vice versa). The quorum IP will not be available for SiteWorx accounts to use

  5. Click Setup
