Overview of Managing IP Addresses With InterWorx Control Panel

InterWorx Control Panel provides a simple-to-use interface for managing the IP address(es) on an InterWorx Control Panel System. From the IP Management screen, you can make an IP address available to the system, InterWorx Control Panel, and/or resellers; remove an IP address from the server; and add one or a range of IP addresses.

Add a Single IP Address

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the Add IP Addresses section.

  4. Type the IP address in the IP Range Start field.

  5. The IP Range End field will auto-populate with the same IP address.

  6. Enter the netmask in the Netmask field.

  7. Select the device you wish to add this IP address to from the Device drop-down list. eth0 is the primary NIC.

  8. Select Shared or Dedicated in the Type field. If an IP address is shared, multiple SiteWorx accounts will be able to share that IP address.

  9. If you wish to make this IP address available to resellers, select Yes in the Available to Resellers drop-down list.

  10. Click the Add button.

Add a Range of IP Addresses

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the Add IP Addresses section.

  4. Type the IP address in the IP Range Start field.

  5. The IP Range End field will auto-populate with the same IP address. Change this to the end address of the IP block you wish to add.

  6. Enter the netmask in the Netmask field.

  7. Select the device you wish to add this IP address to from the Device drop-down list. eth0 is the primary NIC.

  8. Select Shared or Dedicated in the Type field. If an IP address is shared, multiple SiteWorx accounts will be able to share that IP address.

  9. If you wish to make these IP addresses available to resellers, select Yes in the Available to Resellers drop-down list.

  10. Click the Add button.

After adding a range of IP addresses, you can easily manipulate a single IP address within that range.

Delete an IP Address From the System

An IP cannot have any SiteWorx accounts on it before it is deleted.

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the IP Address List section.

  4. Find the IP Address you wish to remove from the system.

  5. Select No from the drop-down list in the Active on System column.

  6. Select No from the drop-down list in the Active in IWorx-CP column.

  7. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.

  8. The IP address(es) will be removed from the list.

Change the IP type

InterWorx classifies IP’s into 2 categories: shared and dedicated.

Shared IPs can be used by multiple SiteWorx accounts

Dedicated IPs can only be used by one SiteWorx account

Change an IP Address From Dedicated to Shared

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the IP Address List section.

  4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.

  5. Select Shared from the drop-down list in the Type column.

  6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.

  7. The IP address(es) chosen will now be shared.

Change an IP Address from Shared to Dedicated

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the IP Address List section.

  4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.

  5. Select Dedicated from the drop-down list in the Type column.

  6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.

  7. The IP address(es) chosen will now be dedicated.

Make an IP Address Available to InterWorx Control Panel

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the IP Address List section.

  4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.

  5. Select Yes from the drop-down list in the Active in IWorx-CP column.

  6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.

Procedure - Make an IP Address Available to Resellers

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the IP Address List section.

  4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.

  5. Select Yes from the drop-down list in the Available to Resellers column.

  6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.

Procedure - Make an IP Address Unavailable to Resellers

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the IP Address List section.

  4. Find the IP Address you wish to modify.

  5. Select No from the drop-down list in the Available to Resellers column.

  6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the IP Address table.

Change the Advertised DNS IP for a private IP Address

When using InterWorx behind a NAT device on a local LAN, you will still want DNS to associate that local IP with a public IP for the purposes of hosting websites. In order for this to happen, you will need to set the public IP a private LAN IP is mapped to in the IP management interface.

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the IP Address List section.

  4. In the External IP (for DNS) column, find the field next to the IP address you wish to advertise DNS for.

  5. Type in the IP address you wish to advertise to the DNS system.

  6. Select Commit Changes from the drop-down list at the bottom of the table.

View Domains Bound to an IP Address

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the IP Address List section.

  4. You will be taken to a page that displays all of the domains using that IP address.

View Resellers with access to an IP Address

  1. Click the Server menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the IP Management menu item.

  3. Locate the IP Address List section.

  4. You will be taken to a page that displays all of the Resellers with access to that IP address.
