How to: Configure Virus Filtering

InterWorx uses the ClamAV software package to detect software threats coming in through the email system.

Enable/Disable SMTP Level Virus Scanning

SMTP level virus scanning allows ClamAV to scan email as it comes in to the SMTP server. This allows ClamAV to stop threats before they ever reach the system. If ClamAV detects a virus it will cause the SMTP service to reject the message.

Enable SMTP Virus Scanning

  1. Click the System Services menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the Mail Server menu item if it is not already open.

  3. Click the Virus Filtering menu item.

  4. Locate the ClamAV Options section.

  5. Select Enabled from the drop-down list labeled SMTP Virus Scanning.

If the ClamAV and Freshclam daemons are stopped when you enable SMTP virus scanning, they will be automatically started.

Disable SMTP Virus Scanning

  1. Click the System Services menu item if it is not already open.

  2. Click the Mail Server menu item if it is not already open.

  5. Select Disabled from the drop-down list labeled SMTP Virus Scanning.
