Upgrading from InterWorx 6.x to InterWorx 7.x

InterWorx 7 includes an updated and responsive User Interface for both the NodeWorx and SiteWorx interfaces. The SiteWorx interface now includes an icon-based design, while keeping the standard side menu.

Also included in InterWorx 7 is an updated Apache and PHP configuration template system, which allows for greater Apache customization. Domain vhosts and PHP configuration templates can be customized individually, globally, or by SiteWorx account or Reseller.

Other InterWorx 7 specific features include Mailman, Imunify Support, and ‘Dark Mode’ for the User Interface.

Important Considerations

Warning

Please make note of the following important considerations before proceeding with the upgrade from InterWorx 6 to InterWorx 7, as the upgrade cannot be reverted

  • It is not recommended to update from InterWorx 6 to InterWorx 7 on InterWorx Clusters, as support for that update is still in development

  • It is not recommended to update from InterWorx 6 to InterWorx 7 on servers using Litespeed, as that integration is still untested

  • Custom Themes are not supported in InterWorx 7, and so all current theme customization will be discarded after upgrade. InterWorx 7 does allow for the ability to add custom logos and branding. More information can be found here

  • During the upgrade, both NodeWorx and SiteWorx will be in maintenance mode. While user domains and email services will still be active, neither the NodeWorx, nor the SiteWorx interface will be accessible

  • All core services (Apache, MySQL, DNS, etc) will be restarted during the update

  • Apache vhost configurations will be rewritten to accommodate the new template system. Apache will then restart, gracefully

  • Detailed upgrade logs are located at /usr/local/interworx/var/log/upgrade.log

    • If the Upgrade Now button is grayed out, resolve or ignore the identified problems in the Pre-Flight Check table
